Austrian Federal Railways or Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) is the national train company of Austria. While it no longer holds a monopoly on rail transport, it still provides the vast majority of Austrian train services. Since 2011, Westbahn has also entered the Austrian train market, primarily focusing on providing service between Vienna and Salzburg. Founded in 1923 and re-founded after Word War II under the name Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB), the Austrian flag carrier is the leader of the train market. ÖBB not only offers service on all of Austria's train routes but is also responsible for Austria's rail network infrastructure.

Many different types of trains are available in Austria. Intercity (IC) trains connect major cities, while regional trains run between major city centers and their suburbs. Austria also features Eurocity and Railjet high-speed trains on its international network. Intercity Express (ICE) trains are also provide service on routes from Austria to Germany.
