Buses to Munich

As one of Germany’s choice tourist destinations, the Bavarian capital Munich receives frequent regular buses from all over Europe. National Express/Eurolines offers one daily afternoon departure from London. The coach leaves Victoria Station at 2:30 p.m. and arrives in Munich at noon the next day. It calls at Folkestone, Ghent, Brussels and Liege in Belgium, and Frankfurt, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, and Ulm in Germany. Eurolines also operates buses to Munich from many other cities including Prague and Paris. Flixbus is another company offering coach services to Munich from all around Germany and from places as far afield as Salzburg Florence, Venice, Paris, Copenhagen, and Zurich. Buses to Munich arrive at the new Munich central bus station (Zentraler Omnibusbahnhof or ZOB) located in the centre of the city next to the Hackerbrücke S-Bahn (Suburban train) station. This area is near many hotels and passengers can also continue to their final destinations via the integrated transport system comprising the U-Bahn (subway), S-Bahn, tram (Strassenbahn), and bus. Tickets can be bought from vending machines in the station or from drivers. One ticket allows travel on all modes of transport.

Most famous for its annual Oktoberfest, Munich is also the city to find the traditional Germany of lederhosen, fairy tale buildings, and boisterous beer halls. The city features a relaxed and pedestrian-friendly centre with the Marienplatz at its heart. Home to delightful old-style townhouses and the Glockenspiel (carillon), the Marienplatz is always lively and a great place to take the pulse of the city. Another famous square is the Königsplatz with its stunning classical architecture. The city's most striking attraction is the Nymphenburg Palace. As the former summer residence of Bavarian royalty, Nymphenburg Palace features wonderful gardens. BMW World's museum is also a fascinating visit for car lovers visiting Munich.
